Who we are
A collaborative network of Mediterranean Port Authorities
Shared ideas, real impact
The MEDPorts Association was established on 27 June 2018 by 20 port authorities from across the Mediterranean basin. Today, it brings together around 30 Mediterranean port authorities and four associated training institutions, representing approximately 70% of cargo traffic and 90% of passenger traffic in the region.
MEDPorts serves as a collaborative platform that fosters cooperation, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives among its members. It promotes the strategic role of Mediterranean ports as key connectors between Europe, Africa, and Asia.
-
MEDPorts aims to strengthen the Mediterranean maritime network by encouraging collaboration and collective intelligence among port authorities and stakeholders.
Through shared expertise and coordinated actions, the association contributes to improving connectivity, competitiveness, and sustainable development across the region.
-
The activities of MEDPorts are structured around four Technical Committees, each focusing on key aspects of port and maritime development:
Sustainable Business Development
Training, Occupation and Cooperation
Promotion
Gender Equality
These committees develop operational projects, facilitate knowledge exchange, and support initiatives that enhance the performance and resilience of Mediterranean ports.
-
The work of MEDPorts is guided by its Executive Committee and validated during General Assembly meetings, which are held twice per year.
Through this governance structure, the association ensures alignment, transparency, and effective decision-making across its activities.
-
By bringing together port authorities, training institutions, and partner organizations, MEDPorts fosters a spirit of collaboration and shared progress.
This collective approach strengthens the Mediterranean maritime ecosystem and supports the long-term development of the region’s ports.
